"Shin Megami Tensei 4" Confirmed for the 3DS

It’s not a spinoff, it’s not a remake, the next entry in the SMT series is coming to the 3DS.

This news comes out of Famitsu courtesy of Japanese blog Sinobi which gets the magazine early. This morning, a tweet from the blog stated:

“With the release of SOUL HACKERS just around the corner, it looks like Atlus has begun development on SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI IV for the 3DS. And it’s a numbered entry in the series. it’s likely the official site will open tomorrow (megaten4.jp).

This was followed up by an image from the magazine with the two-page reveal of the game (I didn’t grab it from the source, but don’t worry, it’s simply the title and a little bit of text).

No word on where the game is in its development, but hopefully with the magazine on stands Atlus will go live with the site and tantalize us with more details. Look for occult iconography and possibly a bit of psychosexual drama in the near future on Nintendo’s new handheld.
