MJ12-Conspiracy Yeah, I think Sigil-Otaku just covered it sorta. I think the idea is that you can technically play D3 single player, but you can take that player and play with other people fairly seamlessly, ya know? In D2, you had your single player characters and your Battlenet characters. In D3, they’re pretty much one in the same, so it’s not like you can disconnect your internet connection, hack up a single player character, then go back on Bnet and play straight up with other people, like in D2. In D3, any way you mess up your character with cheats will change how you play with strangers or friends online. Also, Diablo being such a community game, it’s not like Blizzard purposefully put in cheat codes that EVERYONE can utilize. When people cheat, it’s because they hacked the game or are using devices or software other people don’t have legal access to. Finally, like Sigil also said, with there being a real money auction house, if people hack the auction, there’s a possibility that they could scam people out of far more money than just what they sold some fictional item for, so yeah, I don’t blame Blizzard for making the punishments really stiff.
